Luis Quintero, Dr. Q
Luis F. Quintero has MSc and PhD in Petroleum Engineering (minor in geology) from Louisiana State University, USA, and a B.S. in Electronic Engineering from Universidad Simón Bolívar, Venezuela. His career spans 40 years in well logging, reservoir engineering, production and water management. Luis has addressed production gaps for fields in USA, Latin-America, Africa, Former Soviet Union, Asia and Middle East. He is an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA). He won 1st place at SPE’s International PhD Student Contest (1997), was SPE Distinguished Lecturer (2021-2022), and has been chair of numerous workshops in production and water management. He was also President of SPWLA (2015-2016), Vice-President Technology SPWLA (2014-2015), and Distinguished Speaker (2020-2021). Dr. Quintero has co-authored more than 40 technical papers and 14 patents.
Jesús Sierra
Jesús Sierra holds a BSc in Physics from Simón Bolívar University in Venezuela and a MSc. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), USA. With over 30 years of petroleum experience, managing integrated G&G projects, resource assessment and drilling operations in exploration and production, he founded IGS — a G&G services company with 16 years in the market serving companies across the Latin America region. Jesús worked for PDVSA for 14 years and has been an advisor for companies like Paradigm-Pemex, BP-Venezuela, Pacific Rubiales, Teikoku, Petrotrin, Trinmar, Ecopetrol, Drummond, Hocol and Pentanova Energy. Has authored over 30 technical papers and is a specialist in AVO and attributes for seismic reservoir characterization.
